Whitehead Institute seeks applicants for Whitehead Fellow position

The Whitehead Institute is seeking applications from outstanding candidates for its Whitehead Fellows Program.

Whitehead Fellows are recently graduated PhDs and MDs who possess a record of significant accomplishment, have demonstrated capacity to solve major research problems, and have proven potential for independent research.

Whitehead Fellows receive dedicated lab space and comprehensive lab funding, access to shared technical facilities, and many opportunities to engage with Institute and MIT faculty and the Kendall Square research and innovation environments. Fellows are appointed for a three-year term with the expectation that it will be extended to five years—and they do not have teaching responsibilities. Fellows are expected to develop and lead a vibrant, independent research program. For more information about the Whitehead Fellows Program and its alumni visit this link.

We welcome applicants from any biology-related field and especially encourage applications from candidates who are members of historically underrepresented communities. We are committed to providing our fellows with a supportive environment that emphasizes mentoring and is mindful of diverse backgrounds.

Applicants should submit a CV and a 400-word statement that summarizes both their previous research and their vision for the research they plan to conduct as a Fellow. In addition, three letters of references should be submitted each through the application portal.

We will begin accepting applications on June 1, 2023. Completed applications will be considered until August 1, 2023. Applicants may apply at: fellowsearch.wi.mit.edu
