Whitehead Institute: a closer look

In honor of Women’s History Month, we asked Whitehead Institute community members if they would share stories about women who have inspired them, both professionally and personally. This year we are honoring extraordinary mentors, talented scientists, and gracious friends. In an increasingly interconnected and complex world, collaboration is more important than ever for progress in science. By coming together, scientists can share knowledge and ideas to solve complex problems, learn new skills, and advance their careers. Researchers at Whitehead Institute recognize the importance of collaboration when taking on big challenges in science.

Whitehead Institute invests an extraordinary amount of time and energy in activities that are often described, broadly, as “mentoring.” At Whitehead Institute, that term covers a lot of ground, and it benefits quite an array of people: from some of the world’s most promising postdoctoral researchers and graduate students to local high school students and science teachers.
