Annual Support

Unrestricted annual gifts are essential to Whitehead Institute’s continuing success. They help us respond nimbly to emerging opportunities and  scientific needs. They permit us to invest in new equipment, seed and nurture early-stage research, and weather out-of-the-blue events. In other words, your unrestricted annual support better-enables Whitehead Institute to thrive and have impact. These gifts are also a statement of trust in Institute leadership and a recognition of the organization’s long and continuing history of achievement. And they provide Institute director Ruth Lehmann an important measure of financial flexibility in pursuing her vision for the future of Whitehead Institute. Make a gift now or, for more information, please contact David Kelley, Director of Advancement, at dkelley@wi.mit.edu or 617-324-6255.

Major Gifts & Pledges

Your major gift commitment to Whitehead Institute can have enormous impact -- on the course of one researcher’s career, on a lab’s ability to make a breakthrough finding, or on development of a whole new approach to treating disease. Please consider a major gift that would, for example, establish a Whitehead Institute Professorship, Whitehead Institute Fellowship, or Postdoctoral Fellowship; underwrite a multifaceted research project; or fuel one of our eight state-of-the-art technical platforms. To discuss a major gift or pledge, please contact David Kelley, Director of Advancement, at dkelley@wi.mit.edu or 617-324-6255.

Planned & Estate Gifts

Jack Whitehead left the first planned gift to the Institute: a bequest that created a strong financial foundation on which to build a world-class biomedical research Institute. You can follow in his footsteps and enhance Whitehead Institute’s long-term capacity to improve human health. How? By making a bequest, creating a charitable gift annuity or remainder trust, donating real property, or designating the Institute as beneficiary of a retirement plan or a life insurance policy. Some of these approaches also provide life income for you and/or someone you choose. To learn more about planned & estate gifts, visit plannedgiving.wi.mit.edu, or contact David Kelley, Director of Advancement, at dkelley@wi.mit.edu or 617-324-6255.
