Martin Mullins joined Whitehead Institute in June 2007 as vice president, responsible for leadership, management and organization of the Institute’s administrative operations and affairs. He brings to the Institute more than thirty-five years of progressive management experience in pharmaceutical, government and academic institutions. He previously served as: Vice President for Licensing, Georgetown University; Associate Vice President for Licensing, Case Western Reserve University; and, Senior Technology Licensing Manager and Interim Director, Office of Technology Licensing & Industry Sponsored Research, Harvard Medical School. Prior to arriving in the United States, he held positions with Eli Lilly & Co., IDA Ireland and BioResearch Ireland. He was a founding board member of the Kendall Square Association, and has served on the governance committee of the APC Microbiome Institute. He previously served as Co-Chair of both the Technology Task Force and the Alliance Group, Greater Washington Board of Trade, and on the board of the Edison BioTechnology Center. He holds both a bachelor's and master's degree in biochemistry from the National University of Ireland, Cork and has completed executive programs at Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan School of Management.
